The main difference between Magnoliopsida and class Liliopsida is in the number of embryonic leaves.Magnoliopsida seeds emerge with a pair of leaves and are called dicotyledons. Cotyledon means the first leaf and the prefix Di meaning two. Liliopsida on the other hand are monocotyledons, the prefix mono meaning one. Scientific classification is forever changing and this class was once known has Dicotyledoneae.
