Bubble Wrap

Part of the frugal gardening pages. If you have your own tip and want to pass it on, you can in the forum

Bubble wrap is the stuff they package around some products and contains air trapped in plastic bubbles. Often therapeutic just sitting and popping the bubbles. However this is about uses in the garden.

  • Air is a very poor conductor of heat and this is why double glazing is so effective since the layer between the glass is filled with air. Bubble wrap is also filled with air and thus it makes it ideal for frost protection. You simply need to surround tender plants with the bubble wrap. Larger pieces can be used to insulate greenhouses or cold frames.
